Jeju
Jeju is a volcanic island characterized by oreum cones and lava terrain unique to volcanic islands, with landscapes that differ in all directions centering on Hallasan Mountain. The eastern region with Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and Udo, the western coastal areas of Hyeopjae and Aewol, the waterfalls and columnar jointed coastline of Seogwipo, and Jeju City's downtown each have distinct characters. Rather than going all the way around the island, it is much more relaxing to divide the island into regions and visit them separately.
Dividing your route into the eastern, western, and Seogwipo regions, spending a day in each, minimizes unnecessary travel. Car rentals are more common than public transportation, and advance reservations are necessary during peak seasons. Hallasan hiking trails have restricted entry times depending on the course, and some sections require reservations. Since windy days are frequent, check the weather and adjust your coastal itinerary accordingly.
