North Chungcheong
Chungcheongbuk-do compensates for its lack of ocean with mountains and lakes that shape its landscape. Notable features include the rocky peaks of Danyang and the Namhan River, the lakeside drive around Cheongpung Lake in Jecheon, and the mountain temple culture of Songnisan and Beopjusa Temple. Recently, experience facilities that utilize the terrain, such as Danyanggang Jando and Mancheonha Skywalk, have increased, adding to the enjoyment of walking and sightseeing.
Danyang has a small downtown area where major attractions can be visited on foot or with short car rides. Boat cruises on Chungju Lake and Cheongpung Lake vary in operation depending on the season and water level. The interior of caves remains cool even in summer, so bring a light jacket. While the Jungang Line train provides access to the region, a vehicle is more convenient for traveling between attractions.
